Final Unit Projects

WRITE A DELETED SCENE *GASP*

Your task is to write a deleted scene from the novel; the scene can take place anywhere within the text, but your deleted scene must address and pose a solution for some type of social justice issue. Utilize 3-5 pages for this creative writing assignment. The scene can be from the point of any character, as long as it make sense in context to the area of the story you are focusing on. Make sure to indicate where in the novel your deleted scene is located — this can be done by indicating a page number, or a chapter and range of pages.

MULTIGENRE PROJECT

Students will spend the entire unit composing and selecting items for their multigenre project. At the end of the unit, students will take turns presenting their multigenre projects to the class. These “artifacts” can be contained in a shoe box, decorative box, or anything that is significant to what the student is trying to convey about social justice with the text. The multigenre project must include, but is not limited to, the following: your creative writing assignment, multiple journal entries, an example of your poetry, an example of poetry that relates to social justice themes, artifacts that describe or symbolize characters, evidence of social justice issues, and some proposed solution to social justice issues.
